Any technology effort has a half life, and we have definitely exceeded ours. The advent of AI spells doom for anyone with a pure content website that depends on advertisers to pay the bills. The site has become a hole in my pocket.

We don't want to content to disappear, so we are looking at ways to morph it into something else. If anyone has suggestions, now's the time for them.

We will be at IMS 2026 in Boston but that might be our last one. The site will remain up and running at least through June.

It's been fun and educational for all of us.

Well, there goes all that hard work. AGAIN.

Well so long and thanks for all the fish.

I am sure the Wayback Machine has gathered all of this up.

Turn off the lights on your way out.

I'm sorry to hear that. I don't have any suggestions on saving the content, but I appreciate your efforts. I'm definitely missing the days of RF Globalnet, it was a more innocent time.

Not sure where a good space for RF folks to gather is now. Linkedin and Facebook are overrun with spammers. EEVBlog has an RF forum which isn't too bad, and Reddit /rfengineering exists.

Wow, end of an era. My pocket knife, mug, and T-shirt will be cherished. So much good content just evaporates. In addition to RF Globalnet, I remember VNAhelp.com, RFIC.co.uk, and now MW101 could follow. Don't blame you though; I'm close to throwing in the towel myself.

Reddit itself mostly sucks. Even the guy running r/rfengineering posted he was about to be banned. I deleted my posts and just have a lurker account for mostly r/flying. They just want to monetize it all for AI training.

MW101 is an encyclopedia, which is usually a book. I wonder if AI could be used to scrap it into a static PDF for preservation? Maybe a useful application for AI.

I haven't posted here for many years, although I've quite-often used M101 as a reference.

I did so just now, then, purely on a whim, opened the forum and saw this sad news.

My best regards to Steve & Brenda; we had some nice e-mail exchanges over the years.

I too will treasure the mug and knife that you sent all the way to Australia all those years ago. The mug and its handle parted company on the journey but a drop of epoxy allowed it to serve as a workbench tool & pencil holder where it still does sterling service. :)

But ,,, the old order changeth ... as the man said, and you must do what's best for you.

    Quit while you're ahead.

    Again, my very best regards,

    Kerry.

    PS.
It's quite nostalgic that I remember each of the respondents from long ago; hope you are well.

Update... we have a couple of offers to buy the content for the price of a used car... Maybe that's the way to go. But maybe there could be a way to get some sponsors to do the needful and cough up enough cash to keep the lights on and offset the cost of visiting the IMS conference (or European Microwave?) once in a while. Email us if you have any ideas or if you want to know what it actually costs to keep this thing running... Patreon, anyone?

To be fair we could keep on keeping on until we die, without eating dog food. But we'd like some other skin in the game.
